Every piece of jewelry tells a story, but our story begins long before the first diamond was set. It starts in 1980, amidst the bustle of downtown Toronto, where a father named Moon Auyeung opened the doors to what was then known as Lucky Jewellery.
With a loupe in his hand and a dream in his heart, Mr. Auyeung didn't just sell jewelry; he built relationships. He taught us that trust is the most precious gem of all. In those early days in the downtown showroom, the values of LJ Diamonds were forged: impeccable craftsmanship, honest advice, and treating every customer like family.
The Evolution
A Daughter’s Artistic Touch
As the years passed, the business evolved, moving from the downtown core to the fashionable Shops at Don Mills, and finally finding its true home here in the heart of Scarborough at Eglinton Square Shopping Mall.
During this journey, the torch was passed to Mr. Auyeung's daughter, Emily. Growing up behind the counter, Emily didn't just inherit a business; she inherited a passion for beauty.
An award-winning designer (recipient of the Canadian Jewellery Design Award), Emily transformed LJ Diamonds into a hub of creativity. She launched exclusive silver collections and specialized in custom engagement rings that captured the unique love stories of our clients.
The Passion
The Next Act: Design, Opera, and Legacy
Today, LJ Diamonds has entered a beautiful new chapter. Emily has stepped back from the daily management of the store to pursue her second great love: Chinese Opera.
Now traveling the world, she dedicates her time to the intricate performance arts and designing the elaborate, breathtaking costumes that define the opera—a passion that continues to inspire her jewelry sketches.
While she travels, she remains the soul and Lead Designer of LJ Diamonds, dreaming up new pieces from abroad.
